I have been looking over and updating my account of late and noticed I have neglected to make as many new journal entries as I should. Unfortunately it seems that this will continue due to the fact that I am now enrolled in College and am going to get a job in the near future, but I will try to keep you all updated as to my actions.
Some of you may have noticed that I was missing in action for the entire month of September. Well, I have a good explanation for that as you will soon see. On September 1st me and my family set out on a month long road trip accrossed America to see all that is to be seen and to visit our reletives. We saw many awe-inspiring things from Las Vegas and Hoover Dam to Yellowstone Park and the Grand Canyon. We also visited the Mammoth Caves in Kentucky and took both tours through the caves. Coming in from the upper entrance puts you on a thin metal catwalk literally over 500 feet from the hard stone floor beneath you. Still, despite the terifying heights that you encounter throughout the caves it was a beatiful voyage throughout the vast caves. The rooms differed so wildly in size that in some rooms my little sister could barley fit in and in other rooms you could easily have constructed a city (seriously). The Grand Canyon is stereotipically shown barren of all vegetation and is this huge orange sandy chasm. In reality however there is a suprising amount of plantlife surrounding the canyon and until you get quite near to it you cannot see it through the trees and buildings. Once you come in to view of the canyon though you get greeted by a visual feast. The canyon is so vast that the other side of it appears fuzzy as if it were computer-generated. The only bad thing about the canyon was the fact that the only thing between you and the 20,000,000 foot drop on the other side was a knee-high stone fence. Still, my fear of heights couldn't stop me from enjoying myself immensely. The main part of our drive to Las Vegas happened at night and we drove through seemingly endless mountains before we had to cross Hoover Dam. It was far larger than I thought it was and (due to large-scale construction of another brige over the dam) it resemled the classic cheesy Soviet bases from old movies more than a Hydro-electric dam. After we crossed the dam we drove through more mountains until we went over one perticularly large moutnain and BAM! We could see the entire Las Vegas before us. The sheer amount of neon signs and glittering lights in the Las Vegas made the entire city sparkle from a distance for a truly amazing sight. We got to see many of the sights in Las Vegas like the Luxor, The Excalibur, The Belagio (it's fountain show was totally awesome!), the MGM grand, Treasure Island, New York New York, and Circus Circus. Yellowstone park's sheer size was unbelievable as you drive for hours through geysers, mountains, hot springs, and those mineral springs that look really cool. We saw all kinds of different animals like bald eagles and pronghorn deer, but the cooles animal to see were the Bison. They were so hugh that they could just sit in a field and look like those huge rocks that you see so often in fields, and by the end of it we were having trouble telling what was a rock and what was a bison lol. The most amazing thing about Yellowstone, in my opinion, happens at night. If you look at the sky in Yellowstone you will see such an insane amount of stars that it is mind boggeling. You could see so much that you could see the lines of the Milky Way. We passed through an really large amount of big cities but that would take and eternity to describe so I'll just pass that over along with the visiting reletives part (even though that was fun too).
Anyways I have returned from my grand voyage and am now safely back at home, and prepping for Ohayocon 2010. My hope is to go as the Cyborg Ninja (A.K.A. Gray Fox) from Metal Gear Solid, but that might fall through if I don't have enough time to make the costume. Wish me luck!
